KenFest Calling

A battle of the bands competition that will not only showcase local talent but also support live music across Coventry & Warwickshire!

Our winners not only play live on the KENFEST HMV stage in front of an audience of over one thousand, but they will also spend a day at Woodbine Studios recording one of their tracks with the legendary John Rivers, who has worked with artists such as The Specials, Paul Weller & Ocean Colour Scene!

Knowing how hard bands work, we thought it only right to also give our runners up a live slot at KENFEST too!

What an opening night to KENFEST Calling with 5 fantastic acts performing to a sell-out crowd and the Kenilworth Sporting Ground!

The Wicked Uncles opened the evening. These guys are a young band from Leamington with an abundance of potential. Great musicians and a front man that reminds me of a young Roger Daltrey

Next on was The Bangers a seasoned local covers band playing a set of absolutely banging covers from Kim Wilde’s “Kids in America” to The Cranberries “Zombie”. Fantastic group of musicians and great vocals make this band a must see.

The third act on was Amber Laidan who treated the audience to a more chilled vibe with a beautifully mellow sound and fantastic vocals.

Our penultimate act was On Crash Sunday a 3 piece original punk bad from Redditch. High energy, great stage presence, brilliant musicians and perfect harmonies! Playing original music with great melodies and hooks you just kept singing!

To close our first ever KENFEST Calling was The Rowan Lawson Band. What can we say musicianship was on point, stunning vocals, a legendary harmonica player and song writing that any band would be proud of. The crowd were buzzing after this act!

The Winner from HEAT 1 was The Rowan Lawson Band
The Runner Up from HEAT 1 On Crash Sunday

Hosted at the home of KENFEST, Kenilworth Rugby Club and 5 more incredible acts perform to win their place in the Semi Finals.

First up were Supersonic Fuzz Gun who were a 3 piece band with a big sound, playing original songs and a Libertines cover. With a great image and rock star front man and some incredible song writing, no wonder they are through to the Semi Finals

Second up was singer/songwriter Macy O who open with a massive Adele song “Easy On Me” which left the crowds jaws on the floor. Before treating us to her original music. What an incredible vocalist and songwriter. It was no surprise when we announced Macy O as the winner

Our third act of the night was The Bad Charm, a last minute addition to the line-up with great energy on stage and a talent bunch of musicians

Forth to take the Stage was Andras Droppa and his band. This guys was an absolute guitar hero with a rhythm section to match. Great original music, this guy really got the crowd going and singing back his song to him.

The closing act of the night was BaYkA. Definetly the heaviest band of the competition. Amazing musicians, song writers and a band with great stage presence. I’m sure we’ll see more of these guys in the future. These guys are the current Wildcard holders straight through to the Final

What an evening of great music at The Kenilworth Sports & Social Club

Opening the heat was local band Devils Hand, Playing a mix of covers and originals. There take on the classic Chris Isaak song “Wicked Game” was breath-taking. These guys just had to go through to the Semi-Finals

Broken Wires took the stage next and opened to the hard hitting Motor Head cover “The Ace Of Spaces” this high energy band of incredible musicians showed of their song writing skills too and took first place making it through to Semi-Finals.

Oscillator played next. This is a band I’m sure we’ll be seeing again and again. Playing covers from Razorlight to Foo Fighters. Awesome band of musicians and a fantastic vocalist.

Next up was solo singer/songwriter Zack Hayes from London. WOW can this guy sing! Zack played a few covers and his show piece was his original song “Young Guns” that had the crowd stunned & earned Zack The Wildcard position taking it away from BaYkA.

Our final performance was from Solace, a Birmingham based band playing covers and there original song “Blindside” which was one of the songs of the night. I can’t wait to hear more of this bands new music
